The movies are judged at the end of the program and the winners are awarded with prizes. This program relies on strong partnerships and volunteers. This is a very rewarding way to get involved in the community. In 2006, the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) was approached by CompuCorps to co-sponsor a video project with multi-cultural youth. Youth Zoom - capturing multicultural experiences on video - was created to engage multicultural youth in story telling and teach them about digital video technology. Ottawa Police Service has agreed to partner with CompuCorps on a project to develop and provide an Aboriginal youth program in the Ottawa area with the opportunity to learn how to make a video story with their community, including First Nations, Inuit and Métis. TechYouth exemplifies CompuCorps' involvement in the community by providing youth groups with opportunities to interact with technology. YouthZoom is a project run under TechYouth: each summer TechYouth partners with the Ottawa Police and provides a group of youth with video equipment and video editing time in a professional studio. This month long program allows young individuals to get creative and produce a film on a topic of their liking.
