Charity reaches out for other charities

Compu Corps.org believes that it has found a unique way of raising funds for other charities while making technology accessible to the underprivileged

June 13, 2008 - Ottawa, ON - Compu Corps.org has found a creative way to help other charities to raise funds in a way that does not require much effort, because they will do most of the work. If a charity so chooses to be Compu Corps.org partner, it is only asked to advertise the event and manage the pre-orders. During the event itself Compu Corps.org will bring a minimum of 10 pre-ordered computers and collect the payments. The partner charity will remain at the location of distribution only to greet clients and direct staff.

This local high tech charity wants to help other charities to raise money quickly and efficiently. Compu Corps.org wants to partnership with other charities to help distribute computers to the less fortunate and at the same time help raise funds to the other charity.

Many are the options that a charity has in order to raise money, from a simple baking sale to major events such as golf tournaments. Most of them require extensive planning and a large number of staff members to organize, to advertise and to run the event. Compu Corps.org is offering a solution; time and location will be the most planning a charity will do and the success of the event will depend on how heavily a charity is willing to invest in advertisement.

Compu Corps.org has done this kind of partnership in several occasions and found it to be very effective, because it is ideal for charities that need to raise money in a short period of time and with the least amount of money and time investment. Ethiopian community was pleased with the results of such partnership; two events were enough to raise nearly $1000. The organizers were not the only ones pleased with this union, but also the individuals that had bought the computers. Many of them had access to this essential technology for a minimal cost and on a convenient location for pick up.

CompuCorps.org is a local high tech charity that operates on donations, this being monetary or equipments; a great portion of their donations is made up of computers from companies. It refurbishes those systems and redistributes to the community at low cost to those in need. CompuCorps.org also has as a concern the environment. E-waste is showing to be a modern problem, so refurbishing computers gives them a new life and diverts it from being tossed in landfill. CompuCorps.org has moved to a larger location, 8500 of square feet Community Tech Centre and is now recruiting more volunteers. This growth and the success of previous distribution events allow CompuCorps.org to help other charities, non-profit organizations and communities. CompuCorps.org is proud of its achievements during the 8 years of existence and it is striving to create a stronger community.
