TechYouth exemplifies CompuCorps' involvement in the community by providing youth groups with opportunities to interact with technology. YouthZoom is a project run under TechYouth.

Hey Boys and Girls!

  • Are you between the ages 12 and 15?
  • Do you want paid work experience?
  • Do you want to learn computer skills?
  • Do you want to work with a great team?

If yes, then the CompuCorps Mentoring, a non-profit organization, invites you to take part in the YouthZoom program.

Why do we call it the YouthZoom program? Because this program is created for YOU!

  • You get paid work experience (you earn $ 30 dollars cash per day)
  • You learn how to build and refurbish computers
  • You work with great people
  • After you finish the program, you get a certificate and a reference
  • You get new knowledge about computers that will help you to get a job in the future.
  • By the end of the program you receive a desktop computer for free

Program Eligibility for Youth

  • Be member of low income family
  • Need of program to help the youth
  • Age: 12 to 15 years old (inclusive)
  • Must live in Ottawa region, Ontario

YouthZoom program has been created to provide opportunities for the underprivileged youth to gain practical paid work experience.
The following are the goals of the YouthZoom program:

  • To give youth practical work experience in the non-profit and Information Technology field
  • To teach youth about the fundamentals of refurbishing computers
  • To teach youth about the importance of recycling and being environmentally responsible citizens
  • To teach youth work ethics

The YouthZoom program is offered on the following dates:

Session 2 (Girls only)
Dates: October 1, 2011 to October 29, 2011
Time: 9:30 to 3:30 (Free lunch is served)
Days of the week: Saturdays
Total workload: 30 hours
Program length: 5 weeks

Dates: November 5, 2011 to December 3, 2011
Time: 9:30 to 3:30 (Free lunch is served)
Days of the week: Saturdays
Total workload: 30 hours
Program length: 5 weeks
