The Solar Energy Project

We are installing solar panels on our rooftop and the energy generated will help power our laptop recharge stations and daily operations with excess energy pushed back to Hydro Ottawa to help power the community. The solar panels will be installed in mid-spring and we are in need of financial support to cover the costs of purchase and installation.

The Solar Energy Project requires a financial support of $50,000 and the donation process is open to everyone. Individuals or organizations can sponsor individual solar cells for $25 each or $1,800 to sponsor an entire panel. Contributors will be recognized on our virtual Solar Wall and issued a charitable tax receipt.

How a Donation Helps

  • It reduces our carbon footprint and provides a source of renewable energy for the next decades, reducing our impact on the environment.
  • We will be refurbishing laptops that will be redistributed to other charitable organizations, helping those in need.
  • This project will help 1,000 people directly and indirectly in 2011 alone.
  • It will allow us to cost-effectively run our charitable programs; the solar panels will help reduce overall operating expenses and free up other resources to support our programs.
