| Compu Corps.org Distributes Free Computers For the Community |
|
June 7th, 2008 – Computer Give Away Event Compu Corps.org took part on the Give Away Weekend sponsored by the city of Ottawa. Compu Corps.org raised awareness about e-waste and gave away books, ink jet printers and 10 complete systems that included mouse, keyboard, monitor and even installed softwares provided by Microsoft. ![]() The event was able to gather all sorts of individuals from curious by passers to those that specifically came in hope of winning one of the computers. Compu Corps.org had two draws to determine the lucky winners one at 10am and the second one at noon. All ten computers found good homes and we expect to see them back after their new owners are done with them so we can ensure proper disposal. The purpose of this event was to promote Compu Corps.org, which has moved to 1040 Somerset Street West, and to bring attention to poor e-waste management practices. Did you know that most of the e-waste ends up at landfills, a significant amount is outsourced to third world countries and that only a small fraction is recycled or refurbished? In a near feature Compu Corps.org has plans to host other events similar to this, if you are interested in volunteering or sponsoring us, please contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . This year’s event was only possible thanks to the efforts of our staff and volunteers. Congratulations to all winners!
