June 26th, 2008 – Ottawa, ON – We are launching a new distribution program called TechFeather during a two day event on August 8th and 9th of 2008. This program will raise funds through affordable computer sale and proceeds will go towards the project Aboriginal Youth Zoom. This distribution program was created by Clayton Baggos Meness, Compu Corps.org executive director William Marvel and TechMentor non-profit manager Antonio Misaka after seeing the great success of Youth Zoom and the demand of projects that engage and empower Aboriginal youth. Youth Zoom started as a partnership with Adobe and Ottawa Police, the pilot project was praised and the following two Youth Zooms focused specifically on Aboriginal youth. Now CompuCorps.org wishes to make Youth Zoom a recurring program and will fund most of it through computer distributions. Clayton Baggos Meness, a recent graduate of social work from Canadore College at North Bay was hired by Compu Corps.org to manage this project that is still at its brainstorming phase. Clayton is an Aboriginal himself and he is familiar with the issues all Aboriginals face. Lack of funding for educational equipments is only one of the many issues that Compu Corps.org and Clayton would like to address. His determination and passion for what he is doing set an example to other employees and his energy, without a doubt, is an asset in order to make this program a reality. Compu Corps.org staff hearty welcomes Clayton and it is excited to work with him for this noble cause!
