CompuCorps.org announces grant to support access to computers for Aboriginal Youth in Ottawa.

The TechFeather was awarded a donation from the Community Foundation of Ottawa.

Ottawa –December, Saturday 11, 2010 – CompuCorps, a Canadian high tech charity, is pleased to announce receipt of a grant in Ottawa to support its national program TechFeather – Access to computers for Aboriginal Youth.

This grant is made possible by the Community Foundation of Ottawa through the Nancy and Carey Garrett Family fund.

The TechFeather program provides Aboriginal Youth with computers and technology for the support of home work, volunteer mentoring, skills development, and employment opportunities.

CompuCorps.org runs the largest refurbishment center for computer reuse in Ottawa. Its mandate is to preserve the environment by reusing reliable laptops from companies and individuals and helping low income and at risk families obtain access to technology at low cost.

CompuCorps.org’s volunteers have collected computers, which have been successfully refurbished and set up with Windows 7 software. They will be donated to the Odawa Native Friendship Center in cooperation with Microsoft Unlimited Potential – Community Technology Skills Program and its Microsoft Registered Refurbisher Program.

For more information on how to support the TechFeather program please visit http://www.TechFeather.org or call (613) 234-8988 extension 116 or 111.

CompuCorps.org (http://www.CompuCorps.org) has delivered over 100 technology projects to other Canadian charities since its founding in 2000 and has over 250 IT Volunteers or TechMentorsTM. Its charitable mandate is to promote the efficiency and effectiveness of charitable organizations in Canada by the provision of technical volunteers, low cost computer, services and software as well as technical support and training. The CRA charity registration for donations is # 86411 9094 RR0001.
