William J Marvel
President
Executive Director of CompuCorps.org

Bill is the founder and Executive Director (January 2000 to present) of CompuCorps.org. Bill graduated from Queen's University (Honours BA Human Geography) and studied French at l'Universite de Laval and is a PMP (Professional Project Manager since 2003).Previously, Bill was the Publisher of an internet career news service for engineering and computer professionals which hired its entire staff from a community group supporting employment for people with disabilities. Corporate experience included: Regional Manager for CAD Resource Centre, in Ottawa, Vice President of Recruitment for Thomson Tremblay and for Transit II Groupe Conseil in Montreal, he started his career with Burroughs Business Machines as a Territory Manager in Montreal. An innovator with computers since 1981, Bill likes to claim the purchase of the first "Osborne 1" luggable computer in Canada. He established the Klondike Osborne Users Group (KOG) in Edmonton, Alberta which created a basis of computer learning and sharing and comprised over 100 computer toting members from 1982 to 1985.

Normand Asselin
Director
Multicultural Development Advisor – Colufras Secretary Luso-Francophone de la Santé

Graduate in French Literature, Linguistics, Political Sc. and Ag.Economics, Normand is a retired diplomat and civil servant with Federal and Quebec govts as well as international organizations.Still runs an international NGO dedicated to the development of international networks, exchanges and co-operation between French and Portuguese countries in the Health sector. Hopes to help Compucorps become multilingual and develop international activities with other Canadian or foreign NGO's.

  

Greg Stevens
Director
Marketing Manager Hewlett Packard Canada (EDS)

Greg Stevens, as director of marketing and communications, is responsible for driving growth and increasing brand awareness for EDS, an HP Company in Canada. With over 25 years in the IT services industry, Greg has extensive experience in both the public and commercial sectors in Canada and internationally in a variety of technical and management roles delivering IT infrastructure and applications services. Having chaired the inaugural Environmental Sustainability Committee for EDS Canada, Greg developed a keen interest in environmental issues as it relates to IT and wishes to support CompuCorps with its innovative programs for extending the life of IT and enabling disadvantaged communities connection to the world of the internet and online services.

 

Antonio Misaka
Director

Antonio Misaka moved to Canada in July 2003. He is involved with several Volunteer works for numerous non-profit organizations such as CompuCorps.org, Leadership Ottawa, Oto-Wa Taiko, Federation of Canadian-Brazilian Businesses and Magnetic North Theatre Festival. He was part of the CompuCorps.org staff team from Aug/2006 to Aug/2009 developing several projects such as, Youth Zoom, Ontario Trillium Foundation, Digital Infrastructure, computer network administration and on-line applications. He applied his technical skills and learned a lot about non-profit sector business. Currently he is part of the Board of Directors as Secretary. During his mandate he expects to contribute for Board communications and operational process.

 

Joycelyn N. K Glover MBA
Director
Carleton University Fundraising and Communications Coordinator, Ottawa Community Immigrant Services Organization (OCISO)

Joycelyn has over eight years of local and international management work experience in the private, non-profit and public sector. She is currently the Fundraising and Communications Coordinator at OCISO. Formerly OCISO’s Community Development Projects Administrator, she assisted with the administration, financial management and capacity building training of grassroots community groups with the goal of helping them to be self sufficient. She founded and managed Occident-Tel Company Limited, a telecommunications company in Ghana for 5 years, before moving to Ottawa to pursue a Master’s degree in Business Administration and Management at Carleton University. She has a strong interest and experience in social development and the successful integration of community members; hence her keen interest to be a Director of the CompuCorps Board to help the youth, low income families, and disabled persons to gain access to technology to advance their careers and communicate with loved ones. She loves to travel to see and learn new cultures. She believes that our individual differences in cultures create synergies that we can use to make significant contributions in our communities.

Kartik Vemuri
Director
Software Designer at Alcatel-Lucent

Kartik Vemuri joined CompuCorps in Dec 2009 as a volunteer Project Manager. He was later invited to serve in the Board of Directors. His main involvement includes the organizational development,improvement strategies and marketing initiatives while leading a team of motivated volunteers. Kartik holds a Bachelors degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and has worked for multiple fortune 500 telecom companies. In his current role as a software designer at Alcatel-Lucent, he developes mission critical software products enabling communication flow in the core telecom network. Seeking greater involvment in the community, he puts his professional experience into practice to help CompuCorps achieve its vision..

 

Nenad Gavrilovic
Treasurer
University of Ottawa Honours BCom with Specialization in Accounting Student

Nenad immigrated to Canada with his family in 1995, first arriving in Edmonton, moving to Toronto in 1996, and finally settling in Ottawa in 1998. After receiving his high school diploma in 2006, Nenad chose to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Ottawa, specializing in Accounting. He will be finishing his degree in the spring of 2010 and graduating later in the summer. Nenad first joined CompuCorps in the summer of 2009 as a student employee, assisting with the charity’s accounting matters. After continuing to work for CompuCorps on contract for part of 2009 and gaining a deeper understanding of its accounting operations, Nenad accepted an invitation to the Board as a volunteer Treasurer in January of 2010. When he is not studying, Nenad enjoys playing basketball at the University of Ottawa and attending karate classes.
